David Gordon first strummed a guitar in 1959, and he’s been learning songs ever since. Lots and lots of songs. Now, after six decades of concerts around the world, he’s created a personal retrospective of his favorite comforting and fun songs. It's a feelgood program, inspirational and positive.
This program debuted in Oregon in 2024 and is one of David's most-requested concerts.
The songlist of this concert is constantly evolving, and no two programs are ever exactly alike. David tailors each concert specifically to the audience and setting.
He generally includes some beloved vintage folk songs plus a varied mix of classic songs by The Beatles, Jacques Offenbach, Stephen Foster, Bob Dylan, Fats Waller, Ruggiero Leoncavallo, Hoagy Carmichael, Franz Schubert, David Wilcox, Yip Harburg, Gus Kahn, Iris DeMent, and other great songwriters. The word "eclectic" is an understatement to describe this program. It is lighthearted and uplifting.
In his concerts with guitar David draws on his lifelong love of traditional and contemporary acoustic music. With a rich and sensitive voice and a keen sense of drama, he interweaves songs of love and laughter with stories, musings, and his own uniquely goofy brand of humor.
Throughout his life, David’s intention has been to open hearts through song and story, and share with his listeners the power of music and the joys of living and love. This program is an expression of all that.
